Working with clay is a very appealing process, starting with the tactile and visual pleasure of building forms, followed by the excitement present in all the other steps (such as mixing glazes and slips, trimming, decorating and glazing the pots) and the rewarding feeling of completion when unloading a kiln. My focus is simplicity of form and functionality. Either wheel-thrown or hand-built, all pots are made in stoneware clay and fired to approximately 2200 F in an electric kiln. The glazes are food-safe and mixed by hand, producing microwave and dishwasher safe pots. Smooth and textured surfaces, in brown or white clay, offer a variety of choices for different tastes: earring holders, vases, mini-vases, mugs, tea infusers, bowls, plates, pitchers, teapots, incense burners, etc. I also work with Neriage and Nerikomi, two ancient colored clay techniques that produce varied patterns on the pieces.
Glass and fabric jewelry in different colors includes necklaces, rings and earrings.
